And Now It Begins...

Today is my first day back to work. I work in an elementary school as a registrar/attendance clerk, and August is my nightmare month. Today I will get my bearings, check emails, and get organized for registration. Tuesday I have a day long district meeting where I will be told all the new things for the year. Then Wednesday registration starts. We do PreK and Kindergarten on Wednesday and Thursday so that I can start entering them into the system. It takes me about 15 minutes per student to get all the data entered. Times that by 65 PreK students and 100-120 Kindergarteners, plus another 100+ other new students 1-5th, and you have 10 hour days, 6 days a week. Yep.

That, in and of itself, is difficult, but coupled with the fact that we are going to be moving in August, well....I'm a little overwhelmed. We are downsizing and so I am having to really cull through our stuff and get rid of many decorative items, furniture, etc. It is such a good thing to simplify, but what a job it is to actually do it.

Oh, did I mention that school starts August 23? Yes, indeed. So.....

I am going to take a break blogging for the month of August. I will blog at The Writer's Alley on Tuesdays, but  I just don't think I can handle much more. I do have a couple of book reviews that I've scheduled, but other than that, I must let go and focus on getting my little family all settled.

So if you think about it, say a little prayer for me during this time. I know my family would appreciate it. I know I'm praying that I can keep my Cranky Pants stuffed in the closet. ;)

P.S. I am being featured today on Kaye Dacus's blog in her Writer's Window Monday Feature. Stop by for a peak.

  1. Oh, I WILL pray for you, dear Sherrinda, and hope you find time to stop at Spanning Seas occasionally!

LOVE your cranky pants phrase. Love your commitment to education. May God gift you with wonderful blessings during this readjustment time.

  4. Well, back to the busy time huh? I hate when that happens :D

Don't get too stressed. We'll be here when you get back to regular posts. Oh, and don't let those little guys at school run you too ragged.

  10. I'll pray for you, Sherrinda. I know what the craziness of moving is like. I don't work out of the home, but I do homeschool and I know Fall is always crazy for school...so I'm sure it must be the same way for those working in the schools.

  11. I just got home from work and am a little bit tire. The air conditioning at work was out in the office and didn't get fixed until 10 a.m. That is rough when all this week is supposed to be around 105 degrees!!!! Then, in order save electricity, they turned off the air at 2:45 p.m. Sigh....I'm a bit sweaty.

Now I am off to look at a couple of houses, so wish me luck! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I love you all!!!!
