Just Do It...Pinterest Style

One of my DIY Pins
So I joined Pinterest back when hardly anyone knew what it was. I have 26 boards and over 1400 pins. I even have 217 followers, almost as much as my blog. It's an interesting phenomenon and Jody Hedlund blogged about it yesterday on her website. I do believe she has sold many of her followers on Pinterest. :)

Pinning has been a fun pastime, and I've made a few things that I found on it...some bracelets, some cute magnets, and a few Weight Watcher recipes. But I've decided I really need to step it up and get busy creating some of these wonderful ideas. Why?

Because I am going to get my Christmas presents made early!

Because I need to create!

Because I need to have presents on hand to give away at a moments notice!

So here is what I started last night:

Crusty Bread!

Looks yummy, huh? It took me all of 5 minutes to mix together the flour, salt, yeast and water. I covered it with plastic wrap and set it aside. When I get home from work tomorrow, I will cook it in a hot ceramic dutch oven and have some wonderful crusty bread. The cool thing about this bread is you can add ingredients to it to change it up. Think about it...cheddar jalepeno, cranberry almond orange, pepper jack, raisin walnut cinnamon, or thyme green onion, Swiss. Mmmmm!!!

I'll let you know how it turns out.

So tell me, do you do Pinterest? Check out my boards and pins HERE to see how fun it is!

  1. I've been cooking a lot more because of Pinterest--all the fun and easy recipes! I themed my whole birthday party from Pinterest. If it wasn't on there, I wouldn't make it. I made chocolate bowls by dipping balloons in chocolate, I made cupcakes that looked like little hamburgers. I'm even trying the cleaning tricks. AND I've done some of the crafts.

    1. Awesome!!! It really is a fantastic place to find great recipes and crafts. I know some writers use it as a place to keep possible character pictures, settings, etc. What is your name on Pinterest? I tried to find you, but couldn't.

  3. Pinterest should be approached with caution. They have an extremely hazy copyright policy. You're encouraged to pin, but you are also supposed to have the copyright to the things you are pinning. Pinning gives Pinterest the right to use those items as they wish. Not a happy thought for artists. Sadly, I felt I needed to delete my Pinterest account. I have also added Pinterest provided code to blog and website to prevent users from pinning. If interested you can read the article I wrote about Pinterest copyright: http://ponyexpressgraphics.blogspot.com/search?q=pinterest

    1. Wow, CJ. I guess I didn't realize the ramifications of copyright stuff. I had thought of it more as a way to drive traffic to a site. I've heard those statistics, anyway. Thanks for an eye opener, CJ!

  4. I'm not on Pinterest yet. I know, I know, I'm so behind. It's just that the thought of keeping up with yet another social media platform just feels like too much. But, I'm sure it's a blast. :) Maybe someday...

  5. How much time do you spend on Pinterest? I hesitate to join because I barely have time to write now, with marketing my new book, FB, Twitter, my blog, Goodreads...

  6. Wow! I have Pinterest but I rarely pin, b/c I'm not researching at the moment. That bread looks delish! How many WW points is it? ;)

  7. My sister is an interior designer and she first told me about Pinterest last summer. At first it was so overwhelming, but, like all things, as soon as I took a little time to get to know the site I soon found I loved it. I like to pin ideas for my books there and I've been pinning recipes from my blog on Saturdays, which draws a lot more traffic to my blog than you'd think. I'm sold on it!

  8. I LOVE Pinterest too! We are two peas in a pod. I hosted a fun shower for one of my best friends who was getting married, and made a bunch of stuff I'd found on Pinterest for it. I think the easiest (and biggest hit) was the peanut butter fudge I made with two ingredients: a can of vanilla frosting and a jar of peanut butter. All you do is melt the two in a big bowl for one minute, then mix together and freeze!
